3 Steps to Recover From a Bad Day

August 12th, 2019 was one of those days where everything was going great. Absolutely perfect. I was productive, I ate healthy, I felt good about myself. And then I got frustrated with myself because I let one bad thought creep in and grow into something bigger. I started to think "Alena, why can't you get yourself together?!"

A Farewell to Summer Tablescape: Charcuterie Picnic on the Beach

I've been seeing a little trend of Charcuterie tables going around on instagram, which actually stemmed from when Sazan made one back in January 2019 (how genius?! A dinner party without the cooking!). Then everyone else started to follow. And I wanted to make one too LOL.
But then I also wanted to take August's tablescape a bit of a different direction since it was the last month of summer. So I took it to the beach.
I thought it would be the perfect place to bid summer farewell and enjoy the salty air and the ocean breeze one last time.

5 Tips to Get Through the Work Day (+ a Christmas in July Deal for Holiday Cards from Basic Invite)

I’ll be the first to admit that working is hard. I mean, who wants to spend 8 or more hours of their day working to make someone else rich(er). I’d rather spend that time doing something for myself. You feel me?!
Maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who is obsessed with their career (congrats, I applaud you!) or one of the lucky ones who gets to work from home or their own office running their own business. Either one of those options is #goals.

In the meantime, if you’re like me and are working for someone else so that you can cover your bills but in reality have a bigger dream that hasn’t come into fruition yet, here are some tips and tricks to help you get through the work day until happy hour (aka the hour you finally leave your place of work at the end of your shift).

How to Travel With Only a Carry-On & Pack it Efficiently

I love being efficient in majority of the things I do in my life, from cooking to cleaning to whatever else. So it's no surprise that when it comes to packing, I've gotten it down to a science (especially since we've traveled to 6 countries in the past 2 years).

This past weekend, I went on a 3-day Girls Trip to the city of Chicago with my sister and cousin. I packed only a carry-on bag and thought I'd share with you how I pack efficiently without taking 36352 outfits and clothing pieces with me.

3 Fun Summer Mocktails

I used to be someone who would only drink water, but lately I've been really enjoying a fun little drink that's more exciting than plain water.
Maybe it's because my husband is such a juice lover, so his love of flavored drinks is slowly coming on to me. I don't know.

Summer Tablescape with Ginger Jars

Ginger jars have been everywhere this past year or so, and for good reason!
They can be used as decor for literally any style, whether you're going for something for contemporary, modern, traditional, etc. You can also use them for any season and dress them up with either white hydrangeas like I did for the summer, fall branches for the fall or surround them with pumpkins,  and also for the winter with some holly branches or surrounding them with a holiday wreath on a mantle/table in your home. There's just countless ways that they can be used in a home.
I just love the look of ginger jars, so I thought I'd use them for a fun tablescape this month.
